Privacy Policy

Sync Stairs is designed with your privacy in mind. Your climbs stay on your device and in your own Apple Health store. No user data is collected, stored, or shared with external parties beyond what is essential for subscription management.

Information We Do Not Collect

The Sync Stairs app does not collect, store, or share any personal information or usage data, such as:

• Names
• Email addresses
• Usage analytics
• Any other identifiable or non-identifiable data about you or your device

There is no account to create and nothing to sign into. The app contains no analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services.

Apple Health

Sync Stairs uses Apple’s HealthKit as the only store for your climbs. Health data is managed by iOS on your device, and:

• Every climb is saved to Health as a Stair Climbing workout, including floors and steps at full resolution.
• Heart rate, energy, and effort score are read back from Health to display alongside your climb.
• Health data is never transmitted off your device by Sync Stairs, and is never visible to me or anyone else.
• You grant and revoke each permission yourself in the Health app or in Settings. Revoking access will limit what the app can show you.

Bluetooth

Sync Stairs uses Bluetooth solely to find and connect to your stair climbing machine and read its workout metrics. It does not use Bluetooth for location, tracking, or identifying nearby devices for any other purpose, and nothing read over Bluetooth leaves your device.

Apple Watch

The Apple Watch app records climbs on your wrist and saves them to Health on your Apple Watch, which syncs to your iPhone through iOS. Data moved between your watch and your iPhone stays within your own devices.

Subscriptions

Sync Stairs Pro is an optional subscription sold through the App Store. Purchases and subscription status are handled entirely by Apple using your Apple Account. Sync Stairs never sees your payment details, and no purchase information is collected or stored outside of Apple’s systems.

Contacting Me

If you use the feedback option in Settings, the app opens an email addressed to me with the app’s own diagnostic log attached. That log contains technical records about how the app ran — connections, errors, and app events — so a problem can be diagnosed. You can review or remove the attachment before sending, and no log is ever transmitted unless you send that email yourself. By contacting me you are giving details of yourself, such as your email address, and permission for me to reply. Those messages may be stored and used in accordance with the privacy policy of the email service used.

No Affiliation With STEPR

Sync Stairs is an independent, third-party app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or otherwise connected to STEPR or any of its subsidiaries or affiliates. STEPR and any related names and marks are the property of their respective owners and are used here only to describe the hardware the app is compatible with.

Consent

By using the app, you consent to this privacy policy.

Business Transfers

If Sync Stairs, or substantially all of its assets, were acquired, subscription-related data might be one of the assets transferred to the new entity. You acknowledge that such transfers may occur, and any acquirer of Sync Stairs will be bound by this privacy policy.

Privacy Policy for Children

The app does not collect, store, or share any personal information, ensuring compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided personal data while contacting us, please reach out, and we will take steps to remove it.

Privacy Policy Changes

From time to time, this privacy policy may be updated to reflect changes in the app or legal requirements. Updates will be posted on this page, and the “Last Updated” date will be modified accordingly.
